* * * * Bedtime Math Provides daily interesting and fun math situations. Many times these include video or related links. Three levels of application problems are presented appropriate for elementary students.
Alphabet Organizer creates graphic organizer that allows the use to select a letter, choose a word that begins with that letter, describe the word and add a picture. Have your students collect pictures for math vocabulary: square, parallel, perpendicular, etc.

Math Tappers

This is a set of math apps from the same creator. From home screen all apps have similar choices for creating players, some good advice for teachers and parents, and the ability to send reports of progress to someone.   • * * * * Five O lite Similar to scrabble, each sequence of titles must add up to a multiple of five. Players are given 5 number tiles. Bonus points are given on the game board. Lite version is free and you play against the computer. $1.99 for the paid version allows up to 4 players.
  • * * * * Numbler is a game where players build number sentences in a game similar to scrabble. Play against the computer, play against another student or go online and play. The level of expertise of the computer can be set from easy to genius. Player is given 6 numbers, 4 operations, and = sign for each turn. Bonus points are provide on the game board. Sentences might look like 6 + 2 = 4 X 2 The more numbers used the higher the score. $0.99 upgrade but I am happy with the free version
  • * * * * Ken Ken is a rectangular grid where numbers must be placed similar to a Sudoko. The difference is that in a KenKen more specific parameters are given. The numbers must sum to 5, have a product of 8, difference of 1 etc. Students practice computation while working to get all of the numbers in each row and column. Grids are 4X4 up to 10X10. Apps for KenKen like games .
  • * * * iSolveit: Math Squared From NCTM Puzzles are grid-based that use basic math operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as well as logic and problem-solving skills. Several names can be entered as players. Similar to Ken-Ken. 3X3, up to 7X7 grids Web site with helpful hints.
  • Motion Math: Pizza $3.99 Kids are in the pizza business. They get to name their pizzas whatever they want, create them with whatever ingredients they want, and sell them for whatever price they want.
  • Math Quiz Game Show play jeopardy with another person using math concepts

  • Networked Die Roller This app has the ability to roll several dice with up to 100 sides. If this app gets tied to you "game center" it opens, but will close before you can make selections. To prevent this go to your "game center" and sign out. When you go back to Dice with Friends there will be a prompt to go to game center which should be cancelled.
